Hi, I’m Jason. I’ve written about movies and TV for over 10 years. I reviewed independent horror films on my blog, The Indie Horror Review, and wrote for MorbidlyBeautiful .com for six years where I interviewed filmmakers, wrote about the behind-the-scenes stories about movies from the 1980s and 1990s, and covered upcoming independent films. My first book, Beyond the Film: The Making of VHS Favorites From the Video Store Era was released in 2022. My latest and why you’re here, Becoming Nickelodeon: How the First Network For Kids Went From Green Vegetable to Green Slime in the 1980s was released in 2026.

I’ve had poetry featured in the horror poetry anthology It Came From the Darkness as well as the literary magazine Jigsaw. I also handled social media for a number of independent films including Camp Dread, Killer Rack, Death House, and Garlic and Gunpowder.

I hold an associate’s degree in theater from Genesee Community College, where I contributed as a writer to original school productions and starred as the best Tom Sawyer east of the Mississippi. I completed my education at SUNY Brockport with a bachelor’s degree in English. I currently write and watch movies in western New York with my girlfriend Sarah and our four cats, Norman Bates, Elvira, Shipka, and Clark Griswold.
